Curador/Curator: Antero Ferreira FBAUP, Biblioteca: 23.04–9.05, 2024
O Dia Mundial do Livro e dos Direitos de Autor (23 de abril) é assinalado com a apresentação de 23 publicações pertencentes à Coleção Antero Ferreira (CAF). A exposição –23 Edições de Artista–integra a atividade anual da Biblioteca da Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade do Porto.
O encontro do número de livros com a data comemorativa torna-se no pretexto para mostrar a diversidade que há no universo deste objeto gráfico: estão, pois, reunidas vinte e três publicações que oscilam entre autoedições, livros de artista, livros protótipo e fotolivros, oriundos de 14 países.
Representando vários núcleos da biblioteca privada do curador, no âmbito da sua especialidade, os exemplares apresentados constituem, também, uma seleção de publicações que representam a diversidade e hibridez desta temática editorial.
Além do seu intrínseco valor artístico-científico, estas publicações –agora expostas em duas vitrines antigas, específicas para o resguardo de volumes de acesso restrito– traduzem a confluência de conhecimentos e paixões. Com efeito, algumas delas provêm do acervo de outros colecionadores, tendo chegado a Antero Ferreira ao longo das últimas três décadas.
World Book and Copyright Day (April 23rd) is marked with the presentation of 23 publications from the Antero Ferreira Collection (CAF). The exhibition –23 Artist’s Editions– is part of the annual activity of the Fine Arts Faculty Library of the University of Porto.
The combination of the number of books with the commemorative date becomes the pretext to show the diversity that exists in the universe of this graphic object: twenty-three publications are therefore brought together, ranging from self-published books, artists’ books, prototype books and photobooks, from 14 countries. Representing various sections of the curator’s private library, within the scope of his specialty, the copies presented also constitute a selection of publications that represent the diversity and hybridity of the theme exposed. In addition to their intrinsic historical-scientific value, these publications –now displayed in two antique glass window bookcases meant specifically for restricted access materials– reflect the confluence of knowledge and passions. In fact, some of them come from the collections of other collectors, having reached Antero Ferreira over the last three decades.
A exposição vai estar patente ao público até 9 de maio e pode ser visitada de segunda-feira a sexta-feira, das 09h00 às 20h00, no edifício central da Faculdade (piso 2). A entrada é gratuita.

The exhibition will be open to the public until May 9th and can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 8 pm, in the Faculty’s central building (2nd floor). Entry is free.
